Commercial Grade Aluminum Sheet

Commercial grade aluminum sheet is a kind of metal sheet widely used in many industrial fields, the definition of which usually refers to those aluminum materials with a thickness of more than 0.2mm to less than 500mm, a width of more than 200mm, and a length of no more than 16m. According to the different alloy compositions, commercial grade aluminium sheet can be classified into several categories, such as pure aluminum sheet, high purity aluminum sheet, and alloy aluminum sheet. Among them, pure aluminum sheet is mainly made of higher purity aluminum, while alloy aluminum sheet is made by adding copper, magnesium, manganese, silicon and other elements to aluminum to enhance its physical and mechanical properties.

Commonly used commercial grade aluminum sheet alloy grades include, but are not limited to, the following series:

– 1xxx series aluminum sheet:

These plates are composed almost entirely of aluminum, containing more than 99% aluminum, and have good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. For example, the 1060 aluminum sheet is commonly used in applications requiring high corrosion resistance and formability, but not high strength requirements, such as chemical equipment1.

– 3xxx series aluminum sheet:

Representative of the 3003 aluminum sheet, which adds a small amount of manganese to improve strength and corrosion resistance, and is suitable for applications requiring good molding properties and weldability, such as liquid transportation tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, etc.

– 5xxx series aluminum sheet:

For example, aluminum sheet 5052, which improves its mechanical properties by adding magnesium for better tensile and fatigue strength and is suitable for the manufacture of aircraft fuel tanks, ship components, etc.

– 6xxx series aluminum sheet:

6061 aluminum sheet is a typical example, which combines silicon and magnesium to provide better workability, corrosion resistance and weldability, and is widely used in building structures, bridges, vehicle frames, etc.

– 7xxx series:

The 7075 aluminum sheet in particular, with zinc as the main alloying element and small amounts of magnesium and copper, gives this aluminum alloy extremely high strength and hardness, making it suitable for application scenarios with high-performance requirements such as aerospace and high-speed trains.

In terms of practical applications, commercial grade aluminum sheet plays an important role in many industries due to its lightweight, high-strength and corrosion-resistant properties. For example:

In the construction field, aluminum sheet is used as curtain walls, ceilings, decorative panels, etc.

In the transportation industry, it serves as an important part of bodies, frames, and hull shells.

In the packaging industry, aluminum sheet can be used in the manufacture of food cans, beverage cans, etc.

In the electrical and electronic industry, aluminum sheet is used as heat sinks, printed circuit board substrates, etc.

In addition, with the development of technology, commercial grade aluminum sheets, showing unique charms in the industrial applications have further expanded the range of uses, reflecting their important value in the future development of the industry.
